NETNRC is proud to announce it will be hosting its first hamfest on Saturday, August 23, 2025! For more information, please visit our hamfest page. The hamfest will feature:

• Boneyard/swapmeet
• VE testing ($15.00 test fee; cash only)
• Indoor and outdoor vendors
• Door prizes and a grand prize raffle for a BKR 5000 handheld radio. Your admission fee also provides you a ticket for the grand prize raffle.
• Drinks and refreshments will be available for purchase.

We’re working on getting more vendors and activities lined up so stay tuned!

Last night, at our monthly meeting at the Unicoi County armory, we had 10 people sit for their amateur radio licensing exam. Out of those people, we have five new Technician class operators, one General class operator, and one Extra class operator joining our ranks. The VEC in charge said he’s never seen so many people sit for their exams outside of a hamfest in his experience.

I’ve been licensed for 28 years now (I’m an Extra class) and I still get a big kick out of helping people get their ham radio license.

Congratulations to those who passed and for those who did not, keep studying and try again next time. It was nice to see so many people want to get their license.

A reminder that our monthly meeting is on Saturday, January 25, at 7 PM, at the Unicoi County Sheriff’s Annex at 100 Main Street in Erwin.  We hope to see everyone there!

On that same day, District 7 SKYWARN will be participating in Winter Field Day at the Unicoi County National Guard Armory (615 S Main Ave in Erwin).  The event starts at 11 AM but for set up, we’ll be there by 10 AM.  If you’re interested in this event and would like to see amateur radio in action, please stop by.  The event is open to the public.

Hello everyone,

Because we are having the potluck dinner for this month’s meeting, the NETNRC meeting will be at the Unicoi County National Guard Armory (615 S Main Ave, Erwin, TN 37650 for your GPS) at 7 PM.  If you did not sign up for bringing something, please feel free to bring food though I am told we have enough desserts already.  We look forward to seeing everyone there!

Please note, due to the Christmas holiday, the December club meeting will be a week earlier on Saturday, December 21.

We are going to have a Christmas potluck dinner.   Please bring your families!

Our October monthly meeting will be on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 7 PM. Due to the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, we may be meeting at an alternate location this month. As soon as it is decided where we will meet in Erwin, it will be announced here and on the club mailing list.

Due to the recent weather, we are cancelling tonight’s meeting. We’ll try to reschedule as soon as possible.
